- Mukhanyo started in 1994 with five students. Actually, informal training already started in the 1980-ties.
- The word “Mukhanyo” means light in the isiNdebele language
- The Mukhanyo campus in KwaMhlanga has a well-stocked library with some 10 000 titles. Libraries in each of the other centres are fast growing, mainly due to donations from South Africa, North America and Britain.
- The Mukhanyo campus in KwaMhlanga has a professional studio where lectures are filmed and more than 50 DVDs courses have been produced for distance groups, each with a study guide and dozen or more lectures.
- Mukhanyo’s staff totals around 60 people of whom the majority are fulltime. There are 28 theology lecturers of which seven have been Mukhanyo students
- In addition to the formal qualifications, Mukhanyo holds many conferences and workshops, inter alia for pastors, women, youth, counselling, financial skills, etc.
- Mukhanyo has a bursary fund which this year amounts to R750 000, supporting needy students.
