For many young people with a calling to ministry, financial hurdles can make their dreams seem out of reach. For Sello Johannes Monareng, a bursary from generous donors has made it possible to pursue his calling at Mukhanyo Theological College.
Sello grew up in Modimolle and matriculated at Phagameng High School. His faith was nurtured over four years at Ramotse Reformed Church, where he actively served and learned. At Mukhanyo, he completed the Higher Certificate in Bible Teaching and is now in his first year of the Bachelor of Theology (BTh). His studies have deepened his understanding of God’s Word and equipped him to lead youth, children, and elderly ministries with confidence and purpose.
Reflecting on the bursary that made his studies possible, Sello says, “I’m so grateful to the donors whose support made my studies at Mukhanyo possible, thank you for changing my life.” Without this support, he says, he would have struggled to afford tuition, especially as an unemployed student, and might have had to delay his education.
The opportunity has strengthened Sello’s commitment to his future in ministry. He hopes to serve as a pastor within the Reformed Churches of South Africa, preaching the Gospel, mentoring young people, and supporting his community. He also dreams of helping other churches grow and discipling their youth, giving back by fostering ministry and spiritual growth wherever he can.
“Thank you from the depths of my heart. Your generosity has opened doors for me to grow spiritually and serve God’s kingdom, may He bless you abundantly,” Sello adds.
Sello’s story shows how donor support can transform lives, enabling students to follow their calling and make a lasting impact on their communities.
