Mukhanyo graduate strengthens cross-cultural ministry in South Africa

Rev. Noah Kim, a graduate of Mukhanyo Theological College, is making a significant impact in South Africa’s ministry landscape. After earning his Bachelor of Theology degree in March 2008, he now serves as a minister at the Reformed Church Cachet in Potchefstroom. His journey from Korea to South Africa highlights the role of theological training in preparing leaders for culturally diverse ministry settings.

Studying at Mukhanyo was more than an academic experience for Rev. Noah — it was also an opportunity to understand the South African context and apply biblical principles in a culturally relevant way. “As a Korean, I had to learn how to engage with people here biblically and culturally,” he reflects. “Mukhanyo helped me shape my ministry to be effective in South Africa.”

One of the key lessons he took from Mukhanyo was the importance of deep theological study. “Faithfulness to God’s Word requires effort,” he explains. “We need to invest time and energy to truly understand Scripture as it was originally intended.” This commitment continues to shape his preaching and pastoral work today.

Beyond the classroom, Mukhanyo provided Rev. Noah with a strong network of mentors and peers. He remains connected with lecturers, such as Dr. Flip Buys, as well as fellow students who continue to encourage one another in ministry.

Rev. Noah’s ministry has expanded beyond the local church. On 4 February, he led a Korean church gathering at Mukhanyo’s new Cape Town Centre, further bridging cultural and theological contexts. He sees this as part of a greater mission to equip more people to serve faithfully in South Africa.

He encourages others to consider theological training at Mukhanyo, especially in a time when strong, biblically grounded leadership is needed. “We need more people willing to serve the Lord and His Church faithfully,” he says. “Mukhanyo provides the foundation for that.”

As he looks to the future, Rev. Noah asks for prayer in discerning where God is leading him next. His journey reflects the ongoing need for theological education that equips leaders not just academically, but for real-world ministry challenges.
