Mukhanyo Theological College celebrated another Graduation Ceremony on 13 September at the KwaMhlanga Campus. A second ceremony was needed this year due to the large number of graduates completing their studies. It was a day filled with joy, gratitude, and a sense of accomplishment as students from various theological programmes were honoured for their dedication and commitment.
Dr Eben le Roux served as Master of the Ceremony, with Dr Brian DeVries, Mukhanyo’s principal, officially constituting the event. Rev. Isaac Maleke delivered the keynote address from 2 Corinthians 4:5, offering inspirational words for the graduates as they prepare to serve in their communities. Rev Maleke encouraged students to grow in their relationship with Christ and to preach Him faithfully.
The event saw the graduation of students across a range of programmes:
IsiZulu Certificates in Bible Training for Christian Ministry | 20 students
Focus Certificate in Church Growth | 8 students
Focus Certificate in Church Leadership | 3 students
Higher Certificate in Bible Teaching | 7 students
Higher Certificate in Church Ministry | 13 students
Diploma in Theology | 7 students
Bachelor of Theology | 5 students
Bachelor of Theology Honours | Given Collen Ngoma
Family members and friends who were able to attend the ceremony beamed with pride as their loved ones received their well-earned qualifications.
Dr DeVries announced this year’s Principal’s Award, honouring student Sibusiso Dlamini from the Newcastle local learning site. Vhuyani Themba Victor Rasekutuma, a BTh degree graduate from the Pretoria campus, delivered the Student Representative Address.
The Prayer of Dedication for the graduates was led by Prof Patrick Palmer, a member of the Mukhanyo board of directors. Prof Palmer noted, “The ethos here at Mukhanyo is something truly special. Unlike secular universities, we regularly quote Scripture throughout our ceremonies, keeping God’s Word at the heart of everything we do.”
“I am immensely proud of all our students. Their perseverance and commitment to God’s calling on their lives has brought them to this significant milestone,” Dr DeVries added.
This special occasion marked not just the end of a journey but the beginning of new ministries, as these graduates go forth equipped to lead and serve, carrying the message of hope and salvation to their communities.
