On Saturday, 25 May 2024, the CHS Life Centre in Kirstenhof is expected to be abuzz with conversation when Mukhanyo Theological College will be hosting its Cape Town open day.
Whether you are a local church leader, considering enrollment, accompanying a family member, or simply curious about theological education in Africa, we would love to welcome you. Come experience Mukhanyo’s community spirit firsthand and discover the college’s educational offerings and plans for the Western Cape.
One of the event’s keynote speakers is Dr William VanDoodewaard, an ordained minister and church planter, and the academic dean at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in South Carolina, USA. As a well-published author, his notable works include 1 & 2 Peter: Feed My Sheep, The Quest for the Historical Adam and The Marrow Controversy and Seceder Tradition.
Dr VanDoodewaard will speak on the topic “Feed the Sheep” as part of the main theme: “Shepherding God’s Flock”.
The other keynote speaker at this mini-conference is Dr Brian DeVries, principal and senior lecturer at Mukhanyo Theological College. He will also speak from 1 Peter 5 on the topic “Know the Shepherd”.
The programme includes brief talks by other Mukhanyo leaders: Dr Japie Malan, deputy principal; Rev. Tebogo Rakgalakane, local learning manager; and Dr Greg Phillips, academic registrar. These men and several local church leaders will speak briefly on topics such as the need for quality theological education in Africa, the importance of church-based local learning, and Mukhanyo’s plans for Cape Town and beyond.
