This past week, Mukhanyo Theological College had the privilege of hosting the 14th annual TEASA Bible College Consultation, a deeply enriching time of fellowship, reflection, and theological dialogue among more than 100 leaders. They all came from over 40 Bible colleges and Christian training institutions across the African continent.
Under the timely and urgent theme “Cultivating a Biblical Worldview for Bible Schools in Africa,” the 2025 Consultation boldly confronted some of the most pressing ideological and moral challenges facing the church and theological education of today. Through biblical teaching, open discussions, and heartfelt prayer, the participants engaged with issues such as syncretism, money matters, sexuality and gender, Christian scholarship, and the role of African institutions within the public square.
Over the two days of the Consultation, it was deeply encouraging to see how the Lord is raising up faithful leaders who are committed to promoting Christ-centred, Bible-saturated training across the continent. Speakers tackled difficult and often controversial topics, encouraging one another to think biblically, courageously, and pastorally about how to lead Africa’s churches and communities with truth and grace.
“We are deeply encouraged by the level of engagement and unity we witnessed this week,” said Dr Brian DeVries, principal of Mukhanyo Theological College. “It is clear that the Lord is raising up a new generation of faithful leaders in Africa who are committed to grounding their ministries and institutions in a thoroughly biblical worldview. Our prayer is that this Consultation will bear much fruit in classrooms, churches, and communities across the continent.”
One of the central aims of this year’s Consultation was to promote the formation of a robust Christian worldview within our training institutions, a worldview rooted in the whole counsel of God, shaped by Scripture, and applied to all areas of life. From theological classrooms to rural pulpits, from youth ministries to mission outreaches, the message was clear: we must equip the next generation of leaders to discern the times and remain faithful to Christ in every context.
As the TEASA network continues to grow, so does the burden and the opportunity to see biblical transformation take root across our continent. Mukhanyo Theological College remains committed to serving the wider body of Christ by facilitating these kinds of gatherings that not only sharpen our understanding, but strengthen our unity and mission.
We give glory to God for the spirit of joy, conviction, and fellowship that marked the entire Consultation. May the fruit of this week be lasting, and may many more African churches be blessed through theological institutions that remain anchored in the Word of God and bold in their witness.
