Leaders in theological education from across Southern Africa and beyond will gather from 17–19 June 2026 for the annual TEASA Bible College Consultation, with registration now officially open.
Hosted under the theme “The Gospel and Culture in African Bible Education,” this year’s consultation will bring together Bible college lecturers, institutional leaders, and ministry practitioners to engage critically with one of the most pressing questions facing the African church today: how to remain faithful to the Gospel while engaging meaningfully with diverse cultural contexts.
The consultation will feature a distinguished panel of experienced speakers from across the continent, who will address key theological and educational challenges over three days of focused discussion and collaboration.
The programme opens with an exploration of culture within education, including sessions on Biblical truth and cultural practice in Africa, defining culture from a Biblical perspective, and examining how culture shapes teaching and learning. Speakers for this day include Dr Daniel Simango, Dr Brian DeVries, and Dr Joseph Mutei.
Day two will address contemporary challenges facing Bible education, with a particular focus on contextualisation, justice, and interpretation. Topics include models of contextualisation, the relationship between gender, justice and the Gospel in Africa, and hermeneutics with contextual application. These sessions will be led by Dr Brian DeVries, Dr Stephen Briix, and Dr Isaac Makashinyi.
The final day will turn towards faithfulness within context, considering how institutions can develop more contextually relevant curricula, train leaders for social transformation, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel amidst cultural tensions. Contributions will be made by Dr Isaac Makashinyi, Dr Joseph Mutei, and Dr Victor Nakah.
In addition to plenary sessions, the consultation will include a range of afternoon breakout discussions, providing further opportunity for practical engagement, collaboration, and shared learning among participants.
Each year, the TEASA Bible College Consultation serves as a vital platform for fellowship and mutual edification among theological educators. Representatives from a wide range of institutions gather to strengthen partnerships, share resources, and contribute to the ongoing development of faithful, Biblically grounded training across Africa.
The 2026 consultation will once again be held at the eMseni Christian Conference Centre, conveniently located near OR Tambo International Airport. The venue offers a peaceful and accessible setting, well suited to both focused learning and meaningful fellowship.
